Drum roll....
I found a set of 2 matching chairs for our family room!
Wohoo! Wohoo! Wohoo!
Yes, 20 months in the making and it finally happened!
They are violet-colored and they are 1950's ish. But with some imagination, they are PERFECT!
Perfect how, you ask?
My criteria for our family room chairs was:
* A set of 2 chairs, matching would be a plus
* must be a 'heavy' piece of furniture; should not skate around on a wood floor
* chairs need to have 'clean lines' so they would be easy to reupholster
* lower profile for the seat back so that they would not block natural light from backyard
* inexpensive (my goal was to spend less than $100 for the set)
* Not too high of a seat so a shorter person, like me, finds them comfortable
* comfortable and good quality padding is a plus (it's expensive to replace cushions)
* not smelly or stained (of course!)

* a little unique
* something that David also liked
* they must have good bones/no structural repairs needed

And, friends, I got everything on the list in these 2 chairs!
I liked them as soon as I saw they were a set of 2, low profile, comfortable, and could be reupholstered in a really neat way. I sent D a picture of them but he was on a conference call and said he'd call back in 5 minutes. 30 minutes later, still on a conference call, and G was quickly becoming a loud crankster. So I decided to inquire on a discount since they'd been in the store for 3 weeks. After being offered a 20% discount I decided to bite the bullet and get them (for $36 each).
While the chairs were being loaded into the car David called us and said he really liked them. Double score!!! No convincing needed, I liked that he liked them too :)
My plan is to reupholster the back, inside and cushions 3 different, but coordinating fabrics. Choosing fabric will take some time but it will be fun!

So that's it--more progress!
