Thrifty

After 20 months of looking, Today I found our newest pieces of thrifted furniture!!!
G and I checked out our favorite Salvation Army this morning and we were blessed to find 2 great pieces of furniture that I will reveal tomorrow!

Until then I thought I'd highlight our other pieces of thrifted furniture.  Perhaps to inspire you that these stores are pretty awesome!  After all, I became inspired to take thrifting more seriously by talking with friends and reading blogs.  Maybe our good fortune will encourage you to check out these resources too!

my red desk and gingham chair
Purchased in college; my dad painted the desk and my mom made a the gingham chair cover

Gavin's rocking chair
free-given to us by a friend of D's; One of my most favorite pieces of furniture; it swivels and rocks and is super comfortable.  One day we will invest in reupholstering it, but for now it is just fine!

entry table
I found this dresser/buffet painted this color and fortunately it coordinated perfectly with my living room sofa at the time.  It has also transitioned perfectly to coordinating with our entry rug and thrifted dining room chairs.  Although it is not the color I ultimately plan for the entry table to be (nor are the dining room chairs or sofa) it all has coordinated together for the time being.  I love how God has pointed me towards things that work now, and have the right bones for future changes!

kitchen table and chairs
One day we will need to sand the top and re-stain it; but for now, it is just fine!

dining room table AND chairs
The table came from a consignment store and the chairs were found on Craig's list a few months later.  The table needs no work but one day we will reupholster the chair cushions.

G's swing set
free-one of our neighbors gave it to us; We have replaced the swings on it and plan to paint the set sometime soon.

garage storage shelf
from Salvation Army for $40; It required no paint or fixing.  It is a super solid piece of furniture that stores a truck load of things!   It is the perfect garage storage shelf!
