I have a running joke with David that I'm going to tackle surprise projects when he is out of town. In reality I would not do something that we have not talked about first, but the idea of picking a random project off our list and doing it as a surprise is something I find awesome!
So, when I found out a last Wednesday that he'd be in Dallas all day Saturday I decided I to use that time to organize his tools as a precursor to the birthday gift I've been planning for him. Well, one thing led to another and by Friday I decided that I would organize his tools AND PAINT THE GARAGE.
My plan:
pull out all his tools; organize his tools; paint D's half of the garage (highlighted in yellow)
Friday afternoon G and I went to Lowes, bought 1 gallon of semi-gloss white paint and had all the confidence in the world that it would only take a day to do this project. I also had all the confidence that painting the garage was all that I would do... (hahaha)
Saturday Morning
We saw David off and then darted into the garage to get to work. Gavin, as his usual helpful self, played with tools while I tore the place apart. For 45 minutes I worked on packing up tools and surveying the project while little dude inspected everything. Precious boy was very interested in all his daddy's toys!
Garage, before

My little helper, content as could be
After an hour of packing things up, I realized storing them in the same space I was painting would not work, so I moved all the tools out to the backyard. Then, I decided that instead of conquering the whole project in a day, I'd be lucky to finish half of it. Even though I thought I prepared for this project... it is obvious I have lots of learning to do : )
So, we took a break and Mr. G and I had some lunch.

more to come tomorrow...
