A Summer of Remodeling: June 5-11

Completed Projects Update: Week 2

* re-texture all of the ceilings (from popcorn to a flat finish)
Sunday: after a week of getting bids, we find our winner!
Monday: all ceilings scraped
Tuesday: all ceilings newly floated
Wednesday: ceilings sanded and floated
Thursday/Friday: ceilings sanded and flat finish applied
Saturday: ceilings painted & finished beautifully
If you are planning to refinish your ceilings, we recommend the team that did ours!!

* change all linoleum to tile (kitchen and both bathrooms)
All linoleum is removed and tile has been purchased
Wednesday: baseboards are removed to prep for tile laying
Thursday: David's family is coming in town to help lay tile :)

KITCHEN

Friday: David and his dad, Jim, decided on a pattern and dry laid the tile in kitchen

Saturday: David and Jim started setting tiles; little did we know when we started this process how laborious setting travertine can be... it requires a few more steps than setting ceramic tile and took about twice as long

MASTER BATH

Saturday: David and Jim took at break from kitchen to set tiles in master bath; project moved along quickly

MASTER VANITY

* remove wood paneling in entry and family room
Done!

* re-texture paneled walls
Wednesday: process started on paneled walls; walls have been taped and floated
* update kitchen

FIXTURES

Tuesday: selected faucet-- now trying to decide between chrome and bronze finish.

Wednesday: We ordered a bronze Delta faucet and choose the cabinet door pulls and knobs

COUNTERS

Tuesday: changed counter top selection and then purchased counters and under-mount sink!

New selection-- I stumbled upon it and like it more than our first choice!
In fact, its just what I was hoping to find originally!!!

CABINETS

Saturday: We've found the person to hire to paint the cabinets; he starts on Monday :)

* update bathrooms
Tuesday: new toilets selected and ordered
Friday: David applied waterproofing to master shower walls
Saturday: laid ceramic tile in master bath and vanity

* paint walls and trim throughout house
Wednesday: I am heading to Home Depot to start looking for colors!
Wednesday: hired a painter for ceilings; will commence this weekend

* add a privacy fence to the west side of property
no progress yet

* clean-up landscaping in front and back yard
Monday: found a garden center with great options on perennials that we can plant this month.

* miscellaneous
Tuesday: took some necessities over to the house :)

* purchase/make window treatments
Wednesday: shopped for drapery; decided on fabric for baby's room drapes

The plan is to make drapes from this fabric and a cream colored roman shade.

This will pair nicely with the yellow gingham bed linens, white Jenny Lind crib, and white shelving unit!
