Christmas 2011

This year for Christmas we celebrated as a family on Wednesday evening. I made a Mexican Feast for dinner and then we exchanged presents.

While it was fun to try out a Tamale Christmas, it was more work that I bargained for! In the future I will plan further ahead and spread out the work!
Menu
Chicken Tamales (purchased at A Christmas Affair-yummy!)
Cheese Enchiladas with Chili Sauce
Chicken Tortilla Soup (purchased from La Tapatia--yummy!)
Spicy Beans
Mexican Rice
Queso Blanco
Fresh Salsa
Guacamole
Virgin Strawberry Daiquiris (store bought mix)
Sopapillas

For Christmas we gave G some books and a few of the onsies I had appliqued for him! I had some fun "family portraits" made for D by a person I met at The Christmas Affair and D gave me a Mary Engelbert calendar and a couple of things for the kitchen!
Little man was exhausted after all the funThursday evening we drove to Oklahoma to visit both our families.

With my family
Gavin spent lots of fun time with Cousins Jenni and Josh
Then we opened presents Friday evening.
Saturday afternoon we took a nap before meeting up with David's family

With D's fam
Gavin enjoyed seeing Great Grandpa and Great Grandma Smith
And he always loves hanging out with Grandpa Smith
We had pictures taken with D's fam on Christmas Eve. I snapped this one while the photographer was setting up. I'm looking forward to getting the proofs to look thru!
Saturday evening we all went to dinner at Kilkenny's Irish Pub. I had the Mooncoin Boxty- very yummy and I highly recommend it! David had a chicken sandwich... no joke ; )
Before heading back to Austin on Monday, David's aunt and uncle, Cil and Bill, met us
at his parents house and got to meet G for the first time!
We had a great time and look forward to being with family in Oklahoma again!
