When I was young my dad would gently tap his forehead to mine and call it the Knock of Love. From what my parents have recalled, one day in church I gave my mom the Knock of Love, as a toddler, and it was more like the head bump of the year. Needless to say, no more knocks allowed.
Well, I've always been fond of the idea so I gave little man knocks ever since he has been able to hold his head steady. Then in July (2012) Gavin initiated the Knock of Love. An incredible moment for sure, especially when I realized he was intentionally doing it. I had bowed my head down to look at something, he read it as an invitation, so he locked eyes with me, came close and gently bumped foreheads with me! He did three little bumps in a row, just like I've always done with him.
Then after a couple of months, the Knock of Love disappeared. I'd try to initiate it occasionally but he seemed unfazed.
Then, in January it popped back up on Gavin's radar! Which, I LOVE LOVE LOVE. I feel like it's his version of giving me a hug or kiss or even saying he loves me. Luckily for me he gives very gentle knocks and every time it melts my heart.
He may have me wrapped around his finger.
Ok, he for sure has me wrapped around his finger.
