Over the last few weeks, maybe even years, David and I have dedicated time to thinking about what the holiday season will look like at the Smith house. So many traditions are fun during this time of year but we would like to focus on the significance of our Savior's birth instead of getting lost in other hoopla. Currently we are still in our praying and brainstorming stage about holiday traditions.
That being said, today I wanted to share 2 things that have inspired us during this time.
A couple weekends ago I slipped out of the house for a coffee break at Walton's. Their pecan pie tarts are out of this world! While there, I enjoyed this book. It is full of insights and Noel Piper's thoughts on traditions. I spent the hour reading through the section on Christmas. I was given this book as a gift a few years ago and have enjoyed referring to it throughout the years.
Next, we have some sweet sweet friends...
It is hard for me to come up with the right words to describe this gal... she is awesome! She and her husband have been so generous and loving to David and I in so many ways. Being as sentimental as I am I just smile in my heart to think of the sweet ways she blesses us.
Case in point- two weeks ago David came home and brought in a card and sippee cup sitting by our front door. Our sweet friends dropped off a 12 Days of Christmas card for us along with a sippee cup. The card explains that over the next 12 days their family is committing themselves to pray for our family. She included the sippee cup gift along with a message about how they are praying, on that day, for our hearts to be filled with Christ's love, the living water that will flow within (John 7:38). So, for the next 12 days I have a sister in the Lord praying sweet blessings for my family. Friends, that is awesome awesome awesome.
Here we are now 2 days away :)
Each card has a bible verse and prayer inside for that day.
Again, awesome. awesome. awesome.
