The 1st Anniversary in Our House

Last June we moved into our current home.  In a year's time we have made great strides in updating it with things we like and we have run into a few obstacles.  One story that I find particularly funny (in hindsight) occured in January.

David left for work in the morning and the bathroom vanity looked like this
We had lived here for about 7 months and the medicine cabinet was something I disliked, but also not a huge priority to change out since my dude was so busy with all the other projects.

So during the marathon day of fixing up our home (we were hosting a party for G that weekend) I set my dad up with the tools to remove the very heavy cabinet and switch it out with another mirror I had.  Unfortunately, the switch was not as easy as planned since D came home to this
We had planed for a while to remove the medicine cabinet but I am new to all this renovation business and did not realize medicine cabinets were built into walls... rookie mistake.  And possibly the last time I jump into an impromptu project to help my man out.

So, instead of just having to hang a new mirror he had to patch the hole... oops!

Then we I painted the space and hung the mirror.

Many fun stories have come from our first year of remodeling.  We have been blessed to not run into any major problems that have derailed our project or blown-up our budget.  It has been a great experience, for the most part, and I've had a chance to witness my hubby's incredible talents.

I am not sure I would jump into doing something like this again... but you never know. It can be quite fun to choose every detail for your home... and it can be overwhelming.  All in all, it is incredible how much life has happened in this home, afterall we became a family of three while living here!

To celebrate our 1st anniversary here I made some cookies that (sorta) look like our house.
Here's to hoping we have many wonderful years ahead in this home!

Cheers!
