I wanted to share what may be the last post about house updates for a long time! Here are some pictures of the final state of a lot of the rooms we have been working on. In the future I hope to have the kitchen backsplash and laundry room updates completed and ready to share. Also exciting, we are about to start refurbishing a swing set for our backyard for little G to play on!
Entry

We used a dresser that was in our living room in the apartment and added some decorative touches I had on hand. The rug was the first purchase I made for the new home and love how it matches the walls and dresser perfectly. Quite a coincidence, actually. We received the lamp as a Christmas gift and I bought the mirror this winter. I made the wreath last fall and leave it hanging on the inside of the door all the time... to bring something pretty to the bland white door :) The entry way is complete and I love it!
Dining Room

The dining room table was my big purchase after the rug. I found it at a consignment store in Austin and fell instantly in love. About a year later I found the chairs on Craigs List. I bought the fabric for the curtains and my mother in law helped me by sewing them when she visited after Gavin was born. I love how curtains transform a room! Sometime down the road we hope to add a buffet table, china cabinet and chandelier to this space. I am so happy with having a large dining table. Countless sewing projects have been completed at it already and soon my little man will be big enough to color and finger paint in here!

Upcoming Backsplash to be installed

We have made great progress in here and love every penny we spent on it! Changing out the floors, countertops, and door pulls made a world of difference. We have the backsplash ready to install and hope to get it up sometime soon! And of course, we still have not finished the duct work and putting cabinet doors on the space above the microwave... all in good time :)

Breakfast Nook

One of my most favorite things in our home is this light fixture. I am a little quirky about how much I care about light fixtures so having this purchased and installed is so lovely to me! I found the light on Ballard Design's website and fell in love. But with almost everything, it takes me a while to commit and purchase. I am so very pleased with how it fits in the space!
Family Room
Family Room
The most significant change in here has been the fireplace and painting the walls. I am still unsure of the vision I have for the fireplace. I know it is too cluttered and undefined as it is with the candles... but I am waiting for some inspiration to pop up!
Master Bedroom

At some point I hope to find a small and comfy side chair to add to the room next to the little end table that I got this year. Otherwise, this room is coming along very well and basically finished. I am planning to hang 3 large picture frames on both David's side and my side of the bed. His frames are made from old barnwood and mine will be something more feminine. I am putting in art work that he likes on his side of the bed and art work I like on my side...
How this idea started...
David had a painting that he liked of cowboys. Artistically, I like the painting, bt I am not inclined to hang it in our dining room or family room becasue it would lend a style that I am not aiming for... Likewise, I LOVE LOVE LOVE a waterlililes paining by Monet that is drowning in beautiful pinks and purples. I have not bought a print and hung it becasue it seems very Barbie-world to have hanging in a home D lives in... So one night a brilliant idea occured to me. We both like art and have different tastes... so why not represent that in our bedroom. I will hang masculine art on his side of the bed and more feminine pieces on my side. I am also choosing masculine and feminine frames. It's to be seen how this idea will pan out. It could be cool or it could be a flop. Either way, we both get our favorite pieces to hang in the house now!!!
Master Vanity and Bathroom

Master Vanity After
I've painted the walls and changed out the cabinet door knobs and pulls. We have changed out the light and mirror and I am thinking about making a few more adjustments to the mirror. Otherwise we are done!
Master Bathroom After
We hung a small chandelier in this space with a pretty shower curtain and some drapes that match those in our bedroom.

We had the red desk and blue bedding. To tie them together I found a blue and red quilt and some curtain panels to soften up the space. I love working on the computer in this room!
