Guest Bathroom Remodel

In January and February we buckled down and finished the guest bathroom remodel. Of course, it took me longer to take pictures and post them than the actual remodel took... but so is life with a sweet little baby.

Last Summer we:
* removed existing linoleum and laid new tile
* replaced toilet
 This Winter we:
* re-textured the walls (poor diy job done by a prior owner)
* updated light fixture
* changed mirror
* made a shower curtain with the greys and tans used in other parts of our home
* added a couple of double towel rods
* Decorated!

Keeping our little man in mind, we wanted to also:
* apply a glossy paint to the walls (potty training days ahead)
* hang a permanent shower curtain (to prevent one good yank from the rod down; after all I expect some mischievous bath time to occur in this room!)

We still need to:
* seal grout
* patch tile on window seal
* repaint exterior of cabinetry
* childproof the cabinet doors
* add a decorative shelf above the toilet
* add art work to the 4 frames hanging on the wall
Before
Progress
David and his Dad removed the linoleum and laid tile last July.

 Instead of buying a new light fixture we spray painted the old brassy one with pewter colored paint and added updated the glass globes.

I found a set of seeded glass shades that I liked a lot.  We used them in the bathroom and also to update the ceiling fan in the guest bedroom.  The glass shades come from Lowes.

 Finished!
I am SOOO happy with this update.  I strongly dislked the texture of the walls in this room prior to our remodel of it.  I am so happy/proud of David for being able to fix it and retexture the walls for us.  I love how clean and pretty the bathroom is now!
I found the fabric at Calico Fabrics and loved that it picked up the greys in the dining room and tans in the living room and hallway that the bathroom is near.  I sewed the shower curtain making it extra long and extra wide to accomodate the height of the shower rod and to have a little extra coverage across the bath.  I used a cheap grommet tool from Hobby Lobby to put in the rings to hang the curtain.

I found the rug and grey linens at World Market and took one of the hand towels to local Monogramer to customize for the bathroom.  An inexpensive way to jazz up the space!

We found the double towel rods at IKEA.  Double rods can be soooo pricey and IKEA's are inexpensive and will be very useful when company is in town, or as our family grows :)

Other than purchasing the shower curtain hooks (they look like a glass knob) from Target and a nightlight from Brighton, all other decor (and the mirror) were things we have had on hand I repurposed for this project.
