I have a thing (obsession) about keeping a wreath on our front door. Somehow, it makes me feel like our home is more welcoming.

A couple weeks ago I was stuck trying to come up with a winter wreath idea when I took down our Christmas wreath. So, instead of crafting some marvelous winter wonderland on a wreath I reworked our party wreath by adding a bow and a chalkboard sign.
A couple weeks ago I was stuck trying to come up with a winter wreath idea when I took down our Christmas wreath. So, instead of crafting some marvelous winter wonderland on a wreath I reworked our party wreath by adding a bow and a chalkboard sign.
I became a bit excited with how fast it was coming along so I went ahead and stitched the seam too (completely unnecessary but I thought I would like the look of a stitched seam on the bow).
To make the bow I prepared 2 long strips of fabric. The first strip was for the legs of the bow and the second strip I folded and pinned to look like the flaps of the bow.
I pinned the flaps onto the wreath and then tied the tails around the wreath and secured in the center of the flaps. I have not seen this done before but it worked for me to give the bow a french knot and be easily adjustable.
For the chalkboard sign
I bought a $1 wood plaque at Hobby Lobby and used leftover chalkboard paint and white paint for the trim.
A while ago I purchased a chalkboard marker (also from Hobby Lobby) and enjoy using it instead of chalk.
I attached the chalkboard by stapling ribbon onto its back and tying it onto the wreath. I also used some pins to ensure the ribbon stayed in place.
I am super happy with this wreath and look forward to changing the messages on the chalkboard for company that comes to visit or for parties we host!
