My Little Mopster

I love our little Mopster
All ready to head off to our MOPS group and play with his little buddies!

Baby Recommendations I thought I'd share...

MOPS
Gavin and I joined a MOPS program in Austin recently and are really enjoying it. I love the ladies I am meeting and the speakers and activities are awesome too! I highly recommend looking into joining a group in your area if you are not plugged into one yet.

One of the fun things our group does is a MOPS Swap... basically a big trade/free garage sale of household and kid items. Gavin lucked out this year and we went home with about 20 outfits for him to wear from 6-12-18 months of age! Wohoo!

Square One
And, while I am on the recommendations plug... our church also offers a program for first time new moms called Square One. G and I participated in it too and we thoroughly enjoyed it and found lots of great tips and advice in their handouts.

Square One is a 6-week program where new moms come together once a week with their new little bundles and join up with a group of mentors to talk about baby/marriage/home topics and how to balance the new life of being a mom. The group transitions into a play group after the 6 weeks and has been a lot of fun for G and I.

A couple of tips from Square One that I found super useful:
-try to not let your baby waking in the morning be the thing that wakes you... meaning try and get up a little bit earlier to have some time alone/with spouse
-keep a machine always working for you... laundry machine, dishwasher, crock-pot

Gymboree
One last thing-- Gymboree is offering a free class to babies and kids; I've heard lots of great things about it and sign-up is available on their website until the end of March (I think).
