As the day approaches for baby brother to join us we have been trying to do some special activities with G. In particular, visiting a fire station and going to a hockey game. He definitely loves fire trucks, but his love for hockey is either genuine, or a crafty attempt to get to stay up past bedtime!
Dude's dream came true a couple weekends ago when we checked out a live hockey game. When we explained to him our plans for the night he immediately equated it with attending his cousin's basketball game months ago --- It is amazing the memories and connections a 2 year old already has! During our drive to the arena he kept saying, "Hockey, Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!" and "Hockey game soon... almost there!" Super precious!
When we arrived he seemed taken aback by loud it was and very quietly sat in my lap with wide, cautious eyes checking it all out. He even asked to go home. But, after the players came out onto the ice he was smitten and soon fell into the rhythm of cheering and stomping and making noise.
Between claps G downed a huge bag of popcorn and some soda... I know, we are parents of the year for introducing soda ; ) Well, at least in his mind we are awesome. Let's see how long it takes before he asks for it again : /
