Blue Dahlia Bistro

David was out of town recently so little man and I had a staycation weekend.  We topped it off by going out for brunch Sunday afternoon.

I'm on a kick of exploring new (to me) places in Austin.  Currently, we are focused in on parks and bistros.

This time we headed over to the Blue Dahlia.  It's a European bistro owned by a husband and wife team who met when they decided to find a business partner to open a bistro with :)

It was packed, cozy, and the menu was full of options that are less common and sound so yummy.
It was my first time to head into a restarant planning to order G something from the menu.  I knew he would like the berries and yogurt, but did not account for how hungry he would be.  Little man ended up eating all of his yogurt, most of my blueberry blintzes and a bagel that I added to the order.  I enjoyed a couple bites of (super yummy) blintzes and my first-ever latte.
I think this is the perfect place for a couple to go for a laid back brunch.  But it is a lot less awesome for a little dude and mommy date. For starters, little man had to sit on the opposite side of the table from me; the waitress said because it was a full house G had to have his high chair out of the aisle.  Feeding a baby yogurt from across the table requires giraffe-like arms or allows for a laugh-out-loud mess.
I could not get it into his mouth very gracefully and definitely not fast enough.
Long story short, he ended up sitting in my lap to eat and his excitement resulted in us both being COVERED with yogurt before we left.  We will venture out again- but yogurt will be reserved for home and he will only get finger foods at resturants : )

The blintzes were delicious and I'll return again sometime on a date night with hubs.
