Diaper Shower

This spring my students surprised me with a baby shower! One of the sweet teachers I work with organized the party and brought the cupcakes and ice cream.
The students brought diapers as gifts and each signed a banner that will hang in the baby's nursery. It was quite an overwhelming and sweet event to have all the 7th and 8th graders excited about a little baby :)
I teach about 100 7th and 8th graders so you can imagine the amount of diapers we now have! I can't imagine that we will need to purchase diapers anytime in the near future! A few of the 8th graders thought it would be super cool to bring the jean diapers that they have seen at stores-- its always neat to see how they want to contribute and make something special.
Then, for lunch the teachers at school surprised me with a Mexican feast. One of the clever ladies made guacamole and served it in diapers... as a centerpiece.

After school a group of 8th grade girls stayed to help me load the diapers into our car-- it filled my car to the brim. While taking loads to the car we got stuck in the school elevator-- first time that's happened to me-- and with a group of excited teenagers made for quite the time ; )

After getting the diapers home it was fun to watch David organize them by size in our guest bedroom. It is probably the first task he has had as a father to be-- next up will be putting together the crib :)
