* He has a tunnel that's fun to explore.
* He is getting into everything.
* He still falls asleep in his jumperoo.
* G likes to swing at the park!
* It seems like everything goes into his mouth these days... ew!
* He likes to crinkle paper.
* Gavin is a great eater and has started to "ask" to eat whatever we are eating.
* I have been slowly transitioning G to sippy cups for a couple of months now. But low and behold, the day I packed the bottles up and was ready to fully transition him off bottles he refused to drink from a sippy cup. Little man has some tough love coming his way-- and I probably have a day of listening to crying coming my way :(
* Dude now has 6 teeth: 4 on top and 2 on bottom.
* Gavin learned how to open cabinet doors and enjoys pulling books off shelves.
* These days when I walk from room to room I see a balls and little toys randomly left behind. Even though I pick toys up each evening little guy still leaves a new trail of fun where ever he goes during the day. At least having a house full of toys strewn about is something I get a kick out of!
* His favorite game is still peek-a-boo. It is funny to me how something so repetitive cracks him up.
* His favorite toys this month are balls, wooden disks, and music makers. We recently bought a new coffee table and he LOVES to bang his wooden toys against it. (The coffee table is a hammered metal finish so I am perfectly fine with this- knowing this stage would come was one of the reasons I was attracted to the coffee table.)
* He can pull himself to a standing position and will try to balance, hands free, for a couple of seconds before sitting down.
* Little guy seems to like just about anything he eats. I have been surprised how much he still likes cooked spinach and brocoli florets.
* G's first high temperature came this month after his round of shots at his 1 year doctor's appointment. I am so grateful that little guy did not get sick (excluding sniffles/runny nose) this year. My biggest fear after he was born was having an infant getting sick and not knowing how to respond. (This fear only compounded when he projectile spit-up in the middle of the night on our first night home from the hospital.)
* When I ask him to come to me he will crawl to my feet. Or when I ask him to follow me into another room he will crawl behind me. He is good about stopping when I ask him to wait for me. He usually follows through when I ask him to stay somewhere or no touch something. I know his will is growing and training days are here.
* Now that Gavin is 1 year old I am starting focus on a specific educational routine of activities. I am thinking of designating certain times for things like music, hand puppets... I am currently looking for ideas :)
* In the month of August Gavin will gain 2 cousins! Cousin Sabrina was born yesterday and Cousin J is due later this month. What fun these little kiddos will get to have together!!!
* To celebrate G's bday D and I snuck into his room and I convinced D to let me pick up G and hold him for a while. So, almost at the exact time he turned 1 he was in my arms and snuggling. I think Gavin must be an easy going lad to allow me to get him up in the middle of the night for some baby snuggles and then go right back to sleep. (I have done this before so I knew it would probably work out just fine.) Anyhow, it does a mom's heart good to get her last bit of baby snuggles in just under the wire :)
